County Needs 16 More Teachers
Clermont County Schools face a shortfall of at least 16 teachers as classes start. Sept 4 openings for most, Sept 10 for Batavia Mt. Carmel Glen Este and Moscow. Estimated 1,000 more pupils. Owensville Goshen gyms and Goshen multipurpose room to be used for classes. Amelia will add two kindergarten rooms creating four classrooms.

Clermont County board of Elections sought 9 677 more than its original budget citing voter registration costs. Commissioners approved 5 000, limited to use if needed. Hearing by the budget commission was postponed as New Richmond boards did not attend. Budget hearings wrap up Saturday with expected appearances from local education and village boards.

Youth Is Cited Following Crash Involving 3 Cars
In Amelia at 2 30 a m Sunday 19 year old Roger Combs of East Main Street was cited to court for reckless driving after a three car collision. Combs attempting to pass west bound traffic struck the side of a car, causing a chain of impacts that sent a vehicle onto the sidewalk and damaged a wall. A passenger in the west bound car suffered head lacerations and shoulder injuries and was hospitalized at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in the Sumner Powers ambulance. The other drivers were Jerry Hale of Mr Holly Road and Hubbard of Cincinnati.

Road project hearing yields no objections in Clermont County
Julian Paxton of the State Highway Department led a hearing on relocating nine tenths of Rt. 132 near Fagan Run Road with a new bridge over Twelve Mile Creek. No objections were raised. Attendees included Councilman Paul Berry and former councilman George Wehrman. In Owensville, Wonderland Park will host a free Kid's Day on Sept. 9 sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.

Sales On Upswing Driven By School Purchases
Clermont County collected 21465.36 from prepaid tax receipts for the week ending Aug 11, topping 15338.92 for the week ending Aug 13, 1955 by 6126.44 according to State Treasurer Roger W. Tracy. Observers cited stronger consumer spending for school preparations as a factor in the upswing. Since last July 1 the fiscal year total reached 87075.18 on Aug 11, within 16976.56 of the 104051.74 posted on Aug 13, 1955 for the prior year.

At a Clermont County principals meeting held last Thursday James Wooldridge of Amelia was chosen president of the Athletic Association and L G House was named permanent secretary. Roy Thompson, county superintendent, announced the new officers and plans to buy school supplies through the county office to save 20 to 30 percent with direct school delivery. A workshop on reading math and science was set for Bethel August 31 at 2 30 pm.

Bullet Wound Causes Death of Frank Grause
Frank Grause, 68, missing since Saturday, was found buried in rocks in a creek bed near Nicholsville. Autopsy cites a front left skull bullet wound with postmortem rock bruises. no powder burns. Investigators traced his last movements toward his brother’s home and found a rock pile where his body lay. Grause drove a 1951 Oldsmobile with license 617 GP, now missing. survived by widow Hazel. Funeral arrangements by Lew F. White Memorial in New Richmond.
