Jackson Dump Fight Looms As Residents Seek Closure

More than 120 residents signed a petition filed with the Clermont County Board of Health asking closure of the Rumpke Road dump owned by Claude L. and Hazel Jackson. The effort, led by the North Union Township Civic Association, cites the site as a public nuisance and notes waste from Hamilton County.

Lightning Storm Damages Farm Home. Fire Dept Responds

Owensville Ohio residents report damage from an afternoon electric storm. The Chester Malone farm on Deerfield Pike was struck by lightning. Batavia volunteers under assistant chief Clarke Gregg assisted. No fire, but $500 estimated soot damage reported.

Morals Charge Filed In New Richmond Pair

Mrs Stella Shuck of New Richmond has filed a morals count against her husband Jack Shuck 28 after he and Frances Barton 27 of the same city were arrested in a tourist cabin near here by Clyde B Dericks. The case was set for last night. Shuck also faces a misconduct charge from a highway dispute last week when he tried to smash a vehicle window. He was apprehended by Police Chief Charles Spaulding.

Polio Carnival Hosted by Batavia 4 H Club

William B. Fisher Jr. of Batavia and two other armed robbers desertion charges. They escaped a military police stockade at Camp Crowder Missouri and surrendered to Mrs Isabel France of Shepard Springs Arkansas after being hunted with shoot to kill orders. Tenant Home Lost In Sunday Blaze At Behymer Road Farm

A four room tenant house on J Richard Verkamps farm in Cincinnati near Locust Corner Amélia area burned Sunday due to an overheated refrigerator motor. Williamsville Fire Department chief Clifford Scharges and BMOP department chief Luther Politt saved part of the structure. one end and most contents were destroyed. Loss estimated between 2500 and 3000 dollars. Tenants Alfred Vinge and wife were away at the time.

Batavia Rotary Club sponsors dedication of Batavia’s new $364000 elementary school on Sunday October 10. A bronze plaque will list former students who died in World War II and the Korean War. Cafe Looted Again in Batavia This Weekend

Angy's Cafe in Batavia was robbed for a second time in recent weeks. Entry gained via smashed window. Thieves took whisky from four fifths of bottles and damaged coin operated machines. Loss estimated at about 75 dollars.

Farmer Frank Klatte Dies by Gunshot Despondent Over Farm Sale

Milford Ohio man Frank Klatte age 61 was found dead in his home Saturday from gunshot wounds described as self inflicted. Despondency over the recent sale of his farm led to the tragedy. Services were conducted Tuesday at Craver funeral home and burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Powers Case Goes To Supreme Court

The Ohio Supreme Court will hear Powers of Moscow appeal over Judge Houston's trial role in Clarence Powers shooting case. Powers was sentenced to 1 to 20 years after a jury-less hearing in Clermont County, with attorney Stirling L. Brown contending Houston sat without proper assignment. Court of Appeals upheld Houston as de jure or de facto presiding judge, limiting challenge to the title to office.
