First Congressional Convention Held in Clermont

Festive Thresher Run Demonstrates Speed and Satisfaction
W H Carnahan of Blanchester agent for Gaar Scott engines ran a threshing machine from Blanchester to Salem station twenty four miles in seven hours with dinner stop. Buryonu and Joseph bought the engine. Moon later moved another engine from New Richmond to M A Taylor's farm. Gardner and Adams had purchased that engine from Carnahan. Both engines thresh grain efficiently and please their buyers.

Peculiar Poisoning Strikes Six During Monterey Visit
Last Sunday Nan Sallie and Libbie Hunter with Mrs Ada Simonton spent the day with Mr and Mrs J M Hartman at Monterey. On returning home they suffered violent purging vomiting and difficult breathing. Miss Nan and Ada expelled bile and a metallic taste lingered. Dr Mitchell Owensville treated them and said it was poisoning. He stayed through the night and declared them out of danger Monday morning.

Seventh Cavalry reunion to be held in Jackson
The annual reunion of the survivors of the Seventh Oklahoma or Wyoming Cavalry will convene in Jackson on Tuesday October 12 1886. They assemble at the Valley House at 10 o clock am and march to the hall. All survivors are urged to attend. Expected to be the largest gathering since muster out. Reduced transportation rates.

Cincinnati Georgetown and Portsmouth railroad report shows growth
The Cincinnati Georgetown and Portsmouth railroad filed its annual report with the railroad commissioner. The line extended from Mamersyville to Georgetown in 1886 and operated since February 5. The capital stock is 600 000 dollars with 400 000 paid up. Total cost and equipment mark 573 660 dollars for a 42 mile line. Yearly earnings reach 80 021 40 dollars, up 22 percent, while operating expenses total 81 180 57 dollars, leaving net earnings of 4 499 80 dollars.
