Drowning at Milford After Cincinnati Fishing Party Incident
A Cincinnati fishing party swam at Milford on Sunday when Mr. Fisher, a strong swimmer, was seized by cramps and disappeared. A rescuer was dragged down and fled for life to save himself. The drowned man, about 35, was well regarded. body not recovered as locals search the river. This marks a third or fourth death in the same area over four years due to cold currents.

J F Hill of Owensville won a court verdict in Ripley county Indiana against commissioners and bondsmen for damages 1670 on a contract to build eight miles of free turnpike. The trial spanned Jennings county eight months with nearly 100 witnesses from Ohio Kentucky and North Carolina. Many locals deem the judgment insufficient given the extensive costs and Hill’s status as a visiting contractor.

Prominent Williamsburg Landlord John Atchley Dies Quietly
John Atchley longtime landlord of the Atchley House in Williamsburg died at home after a brief illness. A prominent Mason he was buried with Masonic honors as many local and county members attended. Born June 16 1815 he married Anna B South in 1835 and left four children nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He joined the M E church at thirteen and served as exhorter and class leader for twenty years. He was a Master Mason since 1892 and for twenty five years ran the Atchley House a favored stop for travelers. The family thanks those who sent floral tributes and the Masonic fraternity for support.
