Clermont County board announces open house August 24 at 160 East Main Batavia for Honorary Chairman Ralph Houser and the Promotion of Tax Levy committee. Bethel Tate Local School District begins August 29 for about 1950 pupils with full day for grades 1-12 and half day for kindergarten.

Schaeffer Endorsed by Clermont GOP for County Judge Seat

Schaeffer endorsed by the Clermont County Republican Central Committee for appointment as county judge. He is 30, lives at 4928 Ginger Way, Carmel, and would replace Russell Speidel who resigned after a cough syrup codeine arrest. Three other candidates were nominated. Pattison Christy and Masters also received votes.

Public hearing on prescriptive training center sites in Clermont Township

Clermont County committee holds a public hearing at Milford High School on Thursday August 25 at 8 p m to discuss proposed sites for an 8 5 million prescriptive training center near Milford. Considered locations include a Woods property between US 50 and SR 131 near I 275 and a SR 28 site on Fidelity Drive. The facility would house 120 to 140 residents aged three months to two years and include 14 cottage style condominiums. The project aims to help residents return home with staff training toward partial independence.

New Richmond Schools Face 21 Day Shutdown Or Delay

State examiners have urged New Richmond Exempted Village district to delay opening 21 days to September 26 or close 21 days early for Christmas to cover a possible 249,021.80 dollar deficit found in a cash analysis by the state auditor. Board president Tom Wildey backs scheduling a levy on November 8 and borrowing against future levy proceeds. The district must place the levy by September 9 after a close 79 vote levy defeat.

Bridges funding dispute stalls Ohio bridge plan

Hamilton and Clermont County officials and ODOT met to resolve funding for Loveland and Milford bridges. Disagreement centers on whether to use issue funds for Milford or Loveland and on pursuing an Environmental Impact Study to unlock federal and state money. Officials warned delays could extend up to five years if the Milford project stalls.

August Auguries Set for Batavia Main Street Event

Batavia hosts the ninth annual August Auguries this Saturday August 27 on Main Street with nearly 50 exhibits. Vendors offer ceramics antiques jewelry art and plants plus flea market and white elephant items. St Ann Altar Society quilters will demonstrate quilting. Open 11 am to 7 pm booth space 10 ft for $5. Rain date Sunday. Reservation accepted through August 27. Due to Labor Day deadlines moved to Sept 2 for Sept 8 edition.
