Hot Shots Take Second in County League Action
Williamsburg softball team the Hot Shots coached by Helen Anderson finish as first runner up to Northeastern in county league play. They placed third in the Bethel tournament and beat Northeastern 7-6 earlier, then lost 10-0 later in the week. Bethel Red Hats defeated them 16-4 on August 15. Patty Conner pitched a shutout as Denny Ashmore’s Hamersville Demons won 23-0. Williamsburg then lost to Doe's Gang of Hamersville 14-12 in extra innings.

Reds at Riverfront For Next 5 Games
The Cincinnati Reds start a five game homestand at Riverfront Stadium on August 24. They host the St. Louis Cardinals in a three game series then face the Pittsburgh Pirates. Card inf lead in the East appears, with night games on Friday and Saturday and a Camera Day Sunday. Pirates visit for night games August 28–29 as Reds seek impact in the pennant races. Tickets remain for most games, with all seats sold for Saturday’s clash vs St Louis. Cameras allowed on Astroturf for Sunday photo day.
