State fair opened with grand plans for record exhibit
The 67th annual State fair opens next Monday and runs daily through Friday August 21. Not Known Hers Thomas Major George French Arrested on Conscription Charge
Thomas Major George French a 27 year old black man who claims Williamsburg as his home but is unknown there was arrested last Saturday on a Federal warrant for failure to register under the conscription act of June 4 1917. He was arraigned before United States Commissioner Adler and kept for a preliminary hearing. With no $5 000 bond he was committed to Hamilton bounty jail.
