Mary F Hurdle sues Joseph H Bower in a February dispute alleging threats and damage to health and character. Bond set at 400 dollars. various docket entries include closings, foreclosures, and damages claims. Other items report Shinbone country house gatherings, election board reorganization, marriages in Love land, pension news, and a Campania steamer record.
Tillie McDaniels of Brown county was twice arrested for intoxication last week and released each time. She has squandered her father's and husband's property in drink, separated from her husband, and worked as a saleslady in Cincinnati. Now in a low state, she will be cared for by relatives in Aberdeen.
The 44th session closed in Milford with a final entertainment and a vigorous despite modest finances. Invitations were extended to Batavia New Richmond Bethel Huntington Virginia and Batavia with Batavia winning the ballot for next session presidency by George W Witham and a slate including G P Chatterton secretary Miss Georgia Thompson and executive members G B Bolenbaugh and O M Patton.
A 19th Ohio Volunteer, Robert K. Kincaid, formerly of Co. G, killed on the P. and V. Road near Perintown last Wednesday night. He had been staying at the Soldiers Home in Dayton and was en route to Sardinia to visit a brother. After loitering and signaling danger from a construction train, he lay across the track, but the train struck him, breaking limbs and ribs and causing instant death. Remains sent to Batavia for inquest and burial. mourners include Toby Bryan and London Democrat wife visiting Batavia relatives.
Sol Newberry sought a wife to ease loneliness and began a correspondence with a young lady. Misaddressed mail crossed with his nephew Samuel Newberry who objected to the match, fearing propriety and family appearances. The dispute cooled, peace returned, and the brothers parted with a closing biblical allusion.

The ten year old Kitty Turner, daughter of J P Turner of Milford, was bitten by a large pointer while playing in the yard. The dog snapped at her face tearing flesh from forehead to eye. Six stitches were needed to close the wound and the child is expected to recover. The dog may be killed to prevent rabies concerns.
Irving Soards of Cincinnati and Pearl Lytle of Moscow elope to Louisville seeking charity passes home. Soards senior refuses to allow the girl in, even if married, though parents may relent. Ogden, Brown County, jailed in Williamsburg then Cincinnati for petit larceny after stealing a wheel and owing a fine and 30 days.

A Portsmouth cooperage dealer told the Courier that he won a 25 000 barrel contract by underbidding rivals and warned Democratic workers that free trade could drive production to Europe, hurting American labor. A brakeman, Wenley Schwarts, survived a brick car accident after falling into a 20 foot ditch, and Albert Riggs and William Was were arrested for disorderly conduct and billiard violations.
Harry Laymon of Newberry, son of the post master, was thrown from a bucking pony while driving branches to pasture. The pony ran away, throwing Laymon, and he sustained severe injuries feared to be fatal.
Prof Eugene Dial will open a private school at Mt Carmel on September 10 offering book keeping mathematics languages science philosophy and music.
