Owensville recounts incidents from games with Mt Orab and Mt Crab accusing bad umpiring and quitters. Manager Saunders and Mt Urab declined to finish games, while Owensville offered to meet at Norwood for a $100 bonus to prove their mettle.
The County Board awarded multiple bridge contracts at a Monday meeting. Awards included joist and flooring work on five bridges to firms Bigam & Meek, B L Jordan, and Davis & Thirey for totals from 173.55 to 775 dollars, plus numerous concrete-top projects and two new concrete bridges, with bidders such as Oscar Glancy G Needham M Jennings Jinks Winspear Chas Day Jacob Smith Aub Bigam and others receiving payments from 48.66 to 660 dollars.
Clermont County Agricultural Agent reports rising Hessian Fly threat to wheat next year with only few parasites to check it. Delay seeding until Oct 1 to maximize yield per Clermont Farm data. Mr and Mrs Joseph Homan marked their 50 years of marriage on Friday August 16 1919 in Batavia Ohio with more than 100 guests. Their six children and many relatives from Colorado West Virginia Cincinnati and Batavia attended a festive evening of songs poetry and greetings amid garden lights and flowers. Gifts included gold silver china and a Victrola while letters of congratulations came from relatives and friends including Reverend B Burd sall and the Ladies Aid Society.
The event hosted many out of town guests including Dr. and Mrs. F B Dyer and three daughters of Cincinnati Mr and Mrs Frank Titus Mrs Kizzie Weaver and Mr and Mrs Charles Dudley and daughter of Williamsburg Mrs Flora Monroe and Miss Charlotte Fuller of Cincinnati Dr and Mrs McDonald of Chicago. Guests wished the couple many returns of their wedding day and a diamond anniversary.
Clermont residents plan a large August 30 outing at the Cincinnati Zoo with concerts by the Cincinnati Symphony, new pavilion and band shell, improved facilities, and free parking. Tickets available through township chairmen and local offices in Batavia Williamsburg Franklin Washington Monroe Miami Goshen Wayne Stonelick Jackson and Union townships.
Clermont county officials state no special grand jury has been called due to insufficient evidence to justify such an action. They vow ongoing investigations into the high cost of living and invite public tips or evidence on food and other law violations to warrant a real county inquiry. Charles G. The Batavia electric light line will extend up the river road to the residence of Will Henning, adding several new subscribers. The Hugo flour mill will install a 20 horsepower motor, its largest consumer. Water power is no longer reliable without repairs, and the infirmary is next in line for service.

Citizens of New Richmond held a mass meeting to finalize plans for entertaining teachers visiting in the first week of September. Committees on entertainment, board, music and reception were appointed and active teachers are expected to attend. The event offers benefits to educators and includes a law provided expense allowance.
The Hughes Act requires each county to form a County Board of Health with a five year term and district advisory councils. A Batavia meeting on Monday August 26 will organize the board with five members including two physicians one farmer and one attorney. A health officer will be appointed and a representative will attend the meeting to discuss influenza precautions for winter.
The 83rd Division reunion closes the division’s history as the flags of Ohio's Own pass to state authorities in Columbus on Labor Day September 1, 1919. A grand reunion gathers veterans who served to defeat the Hun, with plans to have as many as possible travel to Columbus to witness the colors’ final rest. Local committees will be announced soon and further information is available through the Adjutant General, Division, Camp Sherman, Ohio.
Frank Titus of near Williamsburg picked six bushels of plums from a single tree. An acre planted to plums at $3 per bushel would pay a man. Mr. T. and DD, Robert, marketed 45 hogs last week weighing 200 to 850 pounds and brought in a neat sum.
The 52nd annual reunion of the O. V. I. will be held Saturday October 4 1919 at Highland Park Amelia. Olive Branch ladies will serve chicken dinner at a reasonable price. A good program with speakers and music is planned with shade and water available. Committee members W W Perkins W C Ball and J N Judd.
Milford plans a Labor Day program with a parade to River Side Park, a speech by Dr. C. W. Blodgett of Hyde Park at 11, a Milford vs King’s Mills baseball game, and a grand evening dance by Tieman orchestra with Otto Grau Music Co. providing piano. Lunch and supper will be served with parking available.
Law effective September 8 allows applicants to obtain both hunting and trapping licenses for a single fee. Officials issuing the license should note that it also covers trapping and that Ohio residents are not required to obtain a separate angler license.
