CG&E Plans 203 Million Expansion In Five Years

CG&E announces a five year expansion program costing over 203 million dollars to boost gas and electric facilities for cler mont brown and butler counties. A new 24 million generating unit at Beckford Station near New Richmond increases Beckford capacity to 516000 kilowatts and total CG&E output to 1081000 kilowatts while underscoring long term power stability for regional industry and homes.

Mrs Hoh Resigns as President of Humane Society

Mrs. Fred Hoh of New Richmond announces resignation as president and director of the Clermont County Humane Society effective Sept. 1. She has led the society since its formation and will be succeeded by Mrs. Milton Weiner of Twelve Mile Road, who has served as vice president. The group notes donations total $60 and plans improvements at the new dog pound including outside pens and an electric water pump to be installed within a week.

West Clermont Board Advances Amelia School Heating Plan

The West Clermont district awarded Zeil and Blossom of Cincinnati a contract to draft third floor heating conversion plans for Amelia school. James Wooldridge said he will study registrations to serve kindergarten pupils at Amelia and Mt Carmel, with registration open at the principal’s office through Aug 15. Board also set bus driver policies and bus maintenance measures.

Clermont Schools Set September Open Date

Clermont County public schools plan to begin fall term September 2, the day after Labor Day. County Superintendent Roy C. Thompson and J. G. Hause expect over 12,000 enrollments with 450 teachers and executives. All superintendents meet August 28 to finalize opening plans.

Amelia High School football coach AMELIA-Jie Barbieri announced reporting times for players. Sophomores juniors and seniors should report for uniforms at 9 a.m. on Aug 19 and all players report for practice at 9 a.m. on Aug 20 at the school.

The 14.5 acre tract will be debt free early in 1959 as park development plans are drafted by a joint park board.
