Treasurer of State Roger W. Tracy reported a modest improvement in the Clerent sales tax picture. For the week ending July 26, 1958, collections totaled 20034.36, up 1382.18 from the prior year period. Cumulative July totals to date show 11921, down 14430.28 from July 1957. Franklin and Hamilton Counties exceeded last year in the 24 county analysis, while Brown, Hocking and Holmes led in year-to-date gains.

County Extends Sheep Dipping Project Aids Flies and Ticks
A Clermont County effort led by Extension Agent W W Hamilton completed a sheep dipping program covering about 750 head across 20 flocks at Lockwood Farm Benton Road. The project aims to curb flies ticks and scabies, with certificates issued to owners showing trained dipping and proper material use. Ohio regulations effective Aug 1 1958 require reporting quarantining and dipping for affected flocks and outline movement restrictions and sanitation requirements.

Social Security Marks Birthday
August marks the twenty third birthday of the social security law. E M Bolton, manager of the local social security office, stated today. Social security benefits support old age death or disability and aid economic stability in many communities. In Swifton Center area beneficiaries received checks totaling about one and one half million dollars this month. Clermont County residents receive about $190 000 monthly. Charles Tinsley, Social Security representative, is at the Armory in Batavia every Tuesday morning from 9 to 12.
