On the 5th British troops struck the advanced guards of Arabi Pacha near Ramileh firing from three sides. Seymour reports the force as two hundred men with naval brigade and a forty pounder and two nine pounders under Fisher, plus a thousand marines under Colonel.
The Senate reports approval of Naval appropriation and related money bills including the mileage, knit goods, and agricultural reports.
