Felicity-Franklin District Seeks 60000 Bond Issue

The Felicity-Franklin School District plans a $60,000 bond issue in the November election to add to the present building, create space for a library, establish a science department, and expand cafeteria services with interior remodeling. The measure failed narrowly in May. a district needs statement has been filed with County Auditor Blythe Jones. Board members include Byron Reary Joe Sargent Carl Clinger Raymond Evans and Dwight Marksberry.

Bible School Completed at Summerside Church

A Daily Vacation Bible School ran July 22 to August 2 at Summerside Methodist Church with 120 enrolled and over 90 average attendance. Five teachers led the Primary to Senior classes, with transportation by church ladies and a closing program held Sunday evening August 4.

Withamsville Firemen Carnival Planned for August 18

Preparations are complete for the third annual festival of the Withamsville Volunteer Fire Department to be held at the Withamsville Civic Hall on Sunday August 18. An entertainment program runs afternoon and evening with lunch, refreshments, bingo and games. An hourly attendance prize will be awarded and all proceeds aid the volunteer fire department.

Schmid Injured In Single Vehicle Accident In Glen Este

Karl Schmid general contractor of Glen Este was seriously injured when his car plunged over a 35 foot embankment on Nine Mile Road to avoid a backing car. He received ten stitches for a head wound and glass in his eye. No fractures were found. he was treated by doctors in Williamsville and Batavia. The wrecked car was towed from the scene.

Mayors Court Dockets Several Drunkenness and Domestic Cases

In a week in Batavia mayor's court Meyer A C Munden handled cases from drunkenness to wife beating. Curtis Van Winkle must post a 200 peace bond for threatening and beating his wife. Clarence Rhinehart fined 10 dollars for driving on the left side of the road. Woolery Campbell fined 10 dollars and costs for having an open bottle of whiskey in his car. Ray Simpson fined 25 dollars and costs for intoxication and disorderly conduct. Jake Hampton waived arraignment and was bound over to the grand jury after being charged with striking and threatening Roy Day. Hampton had filed charges which were dismissed.

Clermont County Announces Lower 1947 Tax Rate

Clermont County will cut the 1947 tax rate to 2.70 from 3.60 based on a countywide re appraisal. The 1947 budget allocates 190174.59 for the general fund, 2270 for bond retirement and interest, and 164000 for motor vehicle and gasoline funds with 97000 expected from real estate public utility and general personal taxes. Appropriations for the new budget will be voted at the board of commissioners first meeting in January.
