Goshen Christian Academy at Goshen Church of Christ on SR 28 begins fall enrollment for grades kindergarten through 12th. School Administrator Bill Palmer notes Bible centered philosophy and invites inquiries at 625 6454 or 625 6663.
Clermont Unit of the American Cancer Society hosts a Canoe-A-Thon at Stonelick State Park on Sunday September 7. The event includes tug of war and paddle races for various ages and skill levels starting at 10 a.m. Participants are urged to solicit funds and obtain forms at local offices or by calling the AGS office.
Batavia Fellowship of Churches hosts Vespers on the Square Sunday August 17 at 7 p.m. on the Batavia courthouse steps. Salvation Sound from The Salvation Army in Middletown will perform. No admission but a free will offering. Lawn chairs encouraged and Main Street will be blocked off. Ample local coordination noted by Mrs Ceto Kennedy.
Six CIC members voted to approve hotel bonds to back a Clermont project at Eastgate Mall. The six story complex would include a 175 seat restaurant and lounge a Holidome with pool and indoor miniature golf a learning center with estriad and a rental tower. It would sit on the west side of SR 32 entrance with 514 parking spaces and be leased from Mall owners Jacobs Visconsi Jacobs Co. The plan would create 165 jobs and $1.7 million in annual payroll but a recommendation for a new restaurant was postponed pending receipt of the application and criteria to avoid harming existing businesses.
Clermont County commissioners and Sheriff Van Camp toured Barrie Canada to inspect portable jail units as a potential remedy for overpopulation. A study will assess prison types and needs, amid a federal order reducing county prisoners from 24 to 12 by 1983.
Williamsburg officials challenge the 1980 census counts and form a committee led by Councilmen Roger Kelley and Frank Hess to review the turnout. They note 1970 and 1980 figures differ from expectations and plan a joint village meeting Monday August 18 at 7 p.m. The public is urged to attend.
The largest vote getter will win the two county judge seats. Judge Rosenhoffer, 67, from Union Township, seeks both a seat and an appointment to the Common Pleas Court if Ralph A Hill wins the new Ohio 12th District Court of Appeals. Grace Christy files for the Ohio Board of Education. fire and ambulance levies seek funding. Ballot questions include new tax requests and renewals with a November follow up if not approved at the August deadline.
East Fork State Park will gain a permanent water system by late September or October for drinking fountains only, as the park awaits sewer service. Tate-Monroe Water Association will supply the south end, with pipe routes along Back Run Road and major roads. Construction aims to finish by the end of September under David S. Santoro, with MEF sewer plans pending EPA planning grant authorization.
