County seeks regional youth center in Clermont Ohio

Juvenile court psychologist Dr Donald Sheehan outlines Clermont County efforts to land a regional treatment center for boys. The plan, backed by Judge Orville Halbish and Youth Commissioner Charles Harrison, would cost over 1.2 million dollars, serve about 200 youths from 20 counties, and employ 130 staff with a 10 000 dollar weekly payroll.

Clermont County Fair Opens August 16 At Owensville

The 7th Annual Clermont County Fair runs five days starting Tuesday August 16 with opening events at 9 a.m. including grange judging 10 a.m. and 4-H horses at 1 p.m. The fair offers daily judging of livestock and crops, grandstand acts such as Shindig Record Revue of Stars and Trans-World Hell Drivers, with Senior Citizens Day on August 17 and election of fair board members on August 20. Admission is 75 cents, with memberships at 2.50. afternoon grandstands free, evening events 75 cents.

Batavia to switch 120 lights to mercury vapor system

Batavia Council voted to convert 120 incandescent lights to mercury vapor amid plans to install new lights on Bauer Ave and two Old Boston Rd locations. Sewer extensions for 18 Clark Ely and Glenn properties were discussed with engineer Walter Manion, cost estimated at 25000 dollars.

Bethel Presses County for Regional Incinerator Plan

Bethel Village Council passed a resolution urging Clermont County Commissioners to pursue incinerator service for the county with village support expected to follow. Officials say a countywide mandate would be needed for full operation, and residents must use the facility. Also noted are rerouted Rt. 222 detours near Batavia to Rt. 125 and planned resurfacing, plus Cincinnati native Ronald N. Baker assigned to the patrol post in Carmel.
