Clermont County Institute imposes a ninety day quarantine on all dogs after two new rabies cases Saturday. Total rabies cases reach six in three months with outbreaks in Batavia Stonelick and Goshen townships. A seventh suspected case is under observation as officers prepare to seize strays and enforce confinement.

At the Clermont Aerie Fraternal Order of Eagles meeting on August 6 plans were completed for the annual family picnic at Owensville Fair Grounds on Labor Day. A new 1940 Buick Sedan will be given away with public attendance invited. Committees promise a large and entertaining event for Clermont County.

Curlis Couple Mark 50th Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Posey L. Curlis of Walnut Hills celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their Afton summer home with family attendance. He is 79, retired from the Cincinnati Police June 1 1916, and she is 70. The couple has two daughters Mrs. Cleveland Best and Mrs. D R Uhifelder, a son Albert Curtis, and two grandchildren.

Rotary Club Resolution Endorses Batavia School Improvements

Batavia Rotary Club approves a plan to add 15000 dollars for industrial arts, a sound proof music room, kindergarten, and expanded playgrounds. A six tenths mill tax levy would back the debt over 15 years, subject to School Board steps and voter approval in the coming November election. The project would involve NYA cooperation and tie to national defense training goals.

Plan celebration at Calvary Church

Final plans for the fifty first Calvary Sunday School celebration on August 17 are announced by general chairman Joe Sargent. Invitations go to Moscow Methodist Christian and Pentecostal churches plus Neville Chile and Felicity area congregations. The stage will be in Preston's Grove with wired sound, near Boone and Kenton pioneer camp sites in Southern Ohio.

NYA Training Center Opens for Ohio Youth in South Charleston

Aubrey Williams announces the NYA Regional Center at the South Charleston Naval Ordnance Plant offering mechanical training for 55 youths aged 18 to 25 from Ohio and surrounding states. Applicants at the Clermont County Area Office must be single and out of school, with programs covering airplane mechanics, machine shop practice, auto mechanics, radio construction, sheet metal, drafting and more.

Bethel may vote on beer again as circulators seek 35 percent of last gubernatorial vote to place the issue on the ballot. The 92nd Clermont County Fair opens next Tuesday in Owensville with $4 500 in premiums and new displays. Bethel Farmer Charles Wood Dies After Heart Attack

Charles Wood 70 a Bethel area farmer died at his home one mile southwest of Bethel Tuesday morning from a heart attack. He had worked in the railroad field before returning to the farm 20 years ago. Survived by widow Susan and two brothers in California and Cincinnati. Funeral arrangements by Kennedy Funeral Home not completed.

Mrs Josephine Hulick widow of George W Hulick honored at Hulick Hill home on Clermont County's western edge. A former Clermont County Bar figure Probate Judge and U S Congressman for the Sixth District, she remains alert, active and devoted to simple daily tasks. She has lived in Clermont County over 70 years. husband died in 1907.

Hill Slipping Slows Route 74 Hill Work

Workmen cutting Hulick hill beside the Norfolk & Western tracks on Route 74 had cleared a roadbed when a slide occurred Saturday around 3 PM. About 2000 yards of dirt tumbled away and a section of the hill shifted, but no injuries were reported. The Construction Finance Co of Cincinnati had the contract to build the roadway and had been removing dirt for weeks.
