Mail vs Express. New ruling expands mail weight to 20 pounds
After August 16 the new rule allows packages up to 20 pounds to travel by mail, up from 11 pounds. Rates drop to 6 cents for the first pound and 1 cent for each additional pound to 20, with rural routes following 6 cents for the first pound and 1 cent thereafter. Experts say the change will sound the death blow to express companies.

Postmaster Edgington in Mt Crab accused over accounting short
Mt Crab postmaster Edgington, first civil service appointee, was found short in his accounts by an examiner by $1 088. Friends raised the amount.
