Destructive hail and wind devastate East Fork Valley farms

A severe Tuesday Wednesday storm ravaged Batavia and nearby towns. Hail and cyclone winds unroofed barns and houses, toppled trees, damaged crops especially corn tobacco and grape, killed cattle, and forced widespread losses across Mt. Carmel Belfast Newtown and Milford with the heat recording 106 degrees before the storm.

Registration of Physicians Under New Ohio Law

A law passed by the Legislature requires all practicing physicians in Ohio to register with the Board of Medical Registration and Examination at Columbus. Certificates may be earned by ten years of practice or via examination or a bona fide diploma. Dr. A. W. Ashburn heads Clermont County correspondence. The list shows physicians registered with about one third already applying. It is expected registration completes in six months and doctors view the law as protective and elevating. Midwives may also obtain certificates after examination.
