Two Milford Youths Drown While Swimming in East Fork
Two Milford youths William F. Cornwell aged 12 and Larry Jones aged 13 drown in the East Fork near Milford last Wednesday. The Cornwell family lives at Mulberry and Jones is the son of Mrs Eva Daniels Jones and the late Earl Jones now of Avondale. The boys, members of the Class B Knothole team, went swimming without family knowledge near the John N. Gatch farm a half mile upstream from the South Milford bridge. their bodies were recovered the following day.

Fire destroys Owensville man's barn and garage
Fire at Louis Yeager's Owensville property destroyed a barn and garage early morning, causing about 4000 dollars in damage to the building and its contents. A 1946 car, 200 dollars of tools, and several tons of coal were lost. flames were kept from reaching the nearby house and outbuildings, with only the car insured.

National Guard to Hold Summer Camp Atterbury Ohio units
The 37th Infantry Division of the Ohio National Guard will conduct a summer field training encampment at Camp Atterbury Indiana from August 14 to 28. More than 8 000 men from 132 units in 56 Ohio cities will participate in the two week camp. Company B 147th Infantry Batavia will send 50 men about 75 percent of its strength for the exercise focusing on tactical training and an overnight bivouac with camouflage security and combat conditions.

Milford girl targeted in failed assault foiled by William Lux
William Lux, former Indian Hill Ranger, chased a youth who dragged a 19 year old Milford girl from her bicycle on Given Road. Lux stopped, pursued, and fired two shots at a fleeing car, which he thinks hit the vehicle. The girl was treated at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Mariemont for head bruises and a collarbone injury.

Two Youths Arrested After Stealing Truck
Portsmouth Ohio youths aged 13 and 14 were apprehended at 10 10 yesterday morning by Corporal H V Wilson a State Highway Patrolman just off the highway at Point Pleasant. The arrest followed an all night search after a truck was reported stolen from the State Highway garage at Portsmouth at 1 a m Wednesday.

Mission Trio Festival Planned at St. Thomas More Church
The Mission Trio Festival will be held August 7 on the St. Thomas More Church grounds at Withamsville starting noon with grilled chicken or roast beef dinners served until 8 pm in the new school auditorium. Volunteers from St. Thomas More Williamsville Immaculate Heart of Mary Forestville and St. Veronica's prepare the food. The grounds are reachable via Amelia Route 125 buses and amusements will be offered for children. A Plymouth 1949 and a television set will be given away near the festival's close.
