A burglary attempt near Williamsburg was halted when Mrs. McKeever awoke to a fire in a summer kitchen and fought it with neighbors. The fire blocked robbers aiming at hill-top homes after breaking into T. D. Stills’ house and a local post office, netting about $60 before fleeing.
Reports from Georgetown show a push for electric lighting with 500 incandescent and 30 arc lamps. The estimate totals 7000 dollars for basic lighting plus 2500 more for battery storage.
Ephraim Hammond of Ripley, recently hospitalized in Newport, was found unconscious in Newport on a Wednesday while en route home. While fishing near Milford a group killed a copperhead four feet long. After disposal of the serpent a delegation of 85 small snakes crawled from its mouth and were all killed.
