Old Hamilton House Poplar Fell After Decades of Shade
The silver poplar at Main and Market streets, a landmark shading the Hamilton house for about twenty years, was cut down on Friday. It hosted locals from Captain Tom Lewis to General Grant, with roots that spread beneath the yard and into the garden. Three maples were planted in its place to replace the beloved tree.
