County wide tax abatement doubts loom in Clermont

Clermont County faces doubts over a countywide tax abatement plan as Ford Motor Co eyes about 105 acres across State Route 32 for an engine plant near its existing site. If built, 1980s employment could reach near 25,000, while officials say ten firms are considering Clermont but want targeted abatements and infrastructure. Commissioner Harold Bissantz rejects a countywide program though. Local letters oppose O Bannon Creek sewer project and residents urge careful use of American-made purchases and bids reviewed by the highway engineer. Extension sought for 1977 real estate tax deadline to July 20.

Jackson Township zoning hearing on 1000 acre development proposal

Harold Flannery presented a plan to rezone 1000 acres in southwestern Jackson Township from agriculture to mixed residential, business, and light industrial use. The zoning commission will forward a recommendation to the trustees, while residents voiced concerns about school districts sewer costs and access, with plans for housing yet to be defined.

Golfers enjoy sunny day at Royal Oaks Country Club

The Clermont County Recreation Commission reports over 2000 rounds since county operation began at Royal Oaks between Wilhiamsville and Amelia on State Route 125. The public course offers pay as you play or a one time annual green fee. 48 annual fees sold. Leagues include Ford employees Cincinnati Gear KDI and St John Vianey with more planned.

Scenic Railroad Boost From BOR Million Dollar Grant

County Sways on New Jobless Figures Hit Clermont Funds

County Administrator Bruce Henry warns the new unemployment method lowers the rate to 4.5 percent from 7.5, reducing county aid by 42000 and risking 160000 in federal funds for Clermont County. Henry and Ohio official Bob Waters defend the change as aligning with national stats, while Henry cautions programs may be delayed.
