County expands DUI program to full state compliance

Clermont County moves its driver intervention program to full Ohio Department of Health certification to meet the three day confinement requirement for first time DUI convictions. Coordinator Gloria Dillinger said the extra 20 hours deepen disease and family impact education while expanding outreach and police involvement. County commissioners approved an 18,250 subsidy for two days at Grailville for 365 referred clients in early 1985.

Batavia plant bids come in under estimate for phase one

Balke Engineers and Clermont County water and sewer officials will study April 18 bids totaling about 8.69 million for the Middle East Fork sewage treatment project phase one and seek contracts at the April 25 meeting. Chandra Shaw notes most low bids fall under engineer estimates. revisions aim to fit EPA timetable to secure a 75 percent federal grant. The big general construction contract went to Building Crafts Inc. for 5.31 million, with H F Randolph Co. submitting the lowest plumbing bid of 35,465 and the sole bid for HVAC work.

NOPE gains backing in fly ash fight over disposal plans

Neighbors' Opposing Pit Expansion NOPE gained support in Columbus and Batavia as lawmakers consider a bill to bar utility firms from sidestepping local zoning to dump fly ash in a residential Pierce Township area. Bethel Tate Board Cancels Play Over Parental Dispute

Bethel Tate Board of Education canceled the school’s musical Sorcerer and Friends after a 3 to 2 vote. Principal David Weidner said some parents were upset for denying children a chance to perform and noted it’s too late in the year to rehearse another show.
