Death of Henry Schobert at 62 in Union county

Henry Schobert died at his home Sunday night after a long illness in his 62nd year. He was the eldest son of the late Frederick Schobert and the last surviving of three brothers. He leaves a widow and three daughters. Funeral Tuesday at 2 p m from the U B church with Rev Wegenr. Burial in Union cemetery.

Pensions for Blind in Ohio Likely Raised

The Ohio governor may sign a bill raising blind pensions after passage by both houses. If both spouses qualify only 150 per year. if only one qualifies 200 per year. Brown County Society plans annual outing at the Zoo on August 9 with William D Crone headed for president. Clermont County Society may join Brown County for a combined event.

Trophy Train Visit to Batavia for Fifth Liberty Loan

The government sponsored trophy train, part of the Victory Loan drive, stops in Clermont County at Batavia on April 29 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for four hours. Residents may view warfare artifacts and a growing souvenirs collection. Clermont’s quota is 378400 based on local bank deposits. attendance is encouraged for youths as free viewing opportunity.

The government will exhibit Tank No. 8 across Clermont county for public inspection to promote the Fifth Liberty Loan bond sale. Army recruits reach 181 at Cincinnati station

The Army Recruiting Station at 612 Vine St Cincinnati has accepted 181 applicants in four weeks an exceptionally high mark. Most enlist for overseas service with an average age of 21 years 10 months and 28 percent are former soldiers. Enlistments by unit include 64 infantry 60 cavalry 28 field artillery 9 coast artillery 20 staff. Of the 181 recruits 101 hail from Ohio.

Citizens of Batavia plan a Wednesday banquet at Jamieson’s hall for returned soldier boys. Hon. C. Kearns will speak with five minute talks from others. Cat dishes and dance at the armory to follow. John Justis Mears born February 17 1888 near Mt Washington Ohio died March 26 1919 at his home near Moscow Ohio aged 1 year 1 month and 8 days He married Josephine Lucretia Blanchard January 19 1864 They had seven children Eugene Clayton Katie Mary Alice Charles Blanchard Cora Antonette Frank Milton and William Holt Three children and his wife precede him in death He was an active church member serving as Supt teacher class leader trustee and steward He suffered la grippe December 6 1917 and never fully recovered. he leaves three sons one daughter a brother and a sister plus grandchildren great grandchildren and many friends.

Freeman Dies Suddenly While Dining in Ohio Hotel

Chas B Freeman a traveling hardware salesman from Ft Edwards NY collapsed after a hearty breakfast at the Adams Hotel on Saturday morning. He was 68 and his widow survives. Undertaker Moore prepared the body and shipped the remains last Sunday. Georgetown claims a modern sanitary barber shop featuring up to date apparatus.

Batavia Odd Fellows Confer First Degree to Six

The Batavia Odd Fellows conferred the First degree on six candidates last Friday evening and will confer the Second next Friday. A banquet will follow in honor of Rev Tilford for his efforts in conferring degrees and promoting the lodge. On Sunday morning April 27 members and visiting brothers will attend the Presbyterian church as Mr T departs for his new field in Cincinnati.

Observations across the county show Septoria Leaf Spot in wheat, with outbreaks in Hamilton and Warren Counties. The disease is fungal, not insect caused, turning leaves yellow and brown then dropping. Spray timing is late April to early May using Orchard Heating Oil or kerosene blends. 75 gallons per acre. Easter Reception for Bethel and Clermont County Seniors

Bethel Seniors hosted Clermont County seniors and teachers on April 18 at K. of P. Hall Bethel Easter decor featured yellow and white with ferns and white rabbits. Guests received name tags shaped as yellow paper chicks or white rabbits and enjoyed a grand march, talks, songs, dancing, and lunch amid challenging roads.

Eighth Grade Examinations Set for May 2 1919 in Northern District
