Burton G. Hodges county recorder reports the first quarter of 1937 as the busiest period in Clermont County history with January 236.90 February 276.56 and March 467.83 totaling 981.29 by April first. All legal documents were recorded with no significant delays and office efficiency maintained.
The Batavia Woman's Club schedules a Saturday meeting on April 24 with hostess Mrs. Daugherty. The program features Love Stories including Napoleon and Josephine and Anthony and Cleopatra with readings by Mrs. Wall and Mrs. Jenike and music by Mrs. Pearson.
April 3 at Batavia the top 25 percent included Donald Camery Keith Williams Edith South Gaylord Preston and Louis Speidel tied for third. A May 1 district test at Miami University determined state scholarship nominees with multiple subject winners and several tie adjustments involving Curtiss Cutler and Gibson among others.
The comedy Black Cats sponsored by Clermont County Pomona Grange will be shown at Newtonville IOOF hall on Wednesday night April 28 with performances at Felicity April 29 and Mt Carmel schoolhouse April 30. Admission 10 cents for 14 years and under, 26 cents for adults. Showtime 8 15 pm. All welcome for a night of laughs.
Washington snapshots discuss Roosevelt's remarks on price hikes in durable goods and federal pump priming shifting to consumer goods. It notes steel wage increases amounting to 1.38 billion and higher raw material costs, with a projected total cost rise of 215 million versus a 200 million rise in prices.
The Clermont County Commissioners held an adjourned session in Batavia on April 12, 1987 with J. M. Hutchinson Ezra Seyler and Frank Willis present. Minutes were approved and various bills were authorized for payment including supplies, auto insurance, repairs, and materials for county relief and building projects.
Batavia Masonic Lodge hosted its annual inspection with over 75 attendees from local and out of county lodges. Lieut. Col. Isaac Titus and wife, returning from California after wintering there, traveled 9 000 miles by car visiting scenic sites and old Clermont County acquaintances. They stay with Dr and Mrs Wm Griffith in Batavia.
Dr. Robert G. Paterson urged expansion of the county tuberculosis program through education, skin testing, X ray diagnosis, and contact follow up. Eleven deaths in 1935 spurred a plan for county wide organization and a May 11 meeting to view the film Behind the Shadows. The Clermont County Public Health League reported a 260 dollar Christmas Seal fundraising total for 1936 to aid the program.

It covers gas rent brick laying printing and labor plus two motions approving a calculating machine from Monroe Calculating Machine Co and shelving for the Probate Court with specified bids and conditions.
A nine count suit filed by Charles Rapp and Lee Leonard seeks to block the Bethel Tate Board of Education and County Auditor from placing the new levy on the tax duplicate. Plaintiffs argue voters had no role in bonding old and new school plants, challenging the district consolidation and tax increase approved in two elections. Authorities cite legal technicalities and the district’s inability to meet indebtedness under the Foundation Program, prompting a levy beyond the ten mill limit amid local opposition to higher taxes.
The Cincinnati Reds opened the 1937 season at Crosley Field with a 2–0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals before a full house. Pitching by Davis and Dean highlighted the game as experts predicted a strong year if young Reds talent proves major league caliber.

A motion to buy a new water cooler from A & P Motor Company for 400 with 74 credit for the old cooler passed. Keys will be turned over to Carl Rush, engineer custodian of the building and related boxes.

It mentions air conditioning and refrigeration careers and notes the Sixth Annual Meeting of the N. W. Veterans Association in Roanoke on June 12 with about 1,300 expected attendees.
A quiet wedding took place at eleven o'clock on Thursday, April 15, as Viola Mae Vinson and Wilfred G. Snyder exchanged vows at the home of Rev Geis in Cincinnati. Attendants were Thelma K. Snyder and Walter Simpson. The couple will reside near Owensville with both families listed as adjacent names in attendance.
Miss Evelyn Ward wed Eu gene Rider of Scotsdale Pa in a dawn ceremony at her home with Rev Bateman presiding. The couple plans a Maryland Washington DC trip before settling in Scotsdale. A Pomona Grange benefit play Black Cats will be staged April 30 at Mt Carmel School House with a large cast.
The Hand in Hand class of the Amelia Baptist Church sponsors an amateur contest in the Amelia School Auditorium on April 30 at 8 30 p m Prizes total 9 00 with first 5 00 second 3 00 and third 1 00 A door prize is also planned Participants must apply by writing to Post Office Box 87 Amelia with name address act and duration Admission is free for contestants but 25c for adults and 15c for children Guests are urged to attend and bring friends for an old fashioned county gathering
The Red Cross flood relief in New Richmond has received a seed shipment for families in the flooded area. Seeds are for direct flood victims registered with the Red Cross and can cover about half an acre per home. Requests should be made at Red Cross HQs in New Richmond Moscow Neville or Chile.
The third annual meeting of the South Central Ohio Officials' Association will be held at the Dixon Hotel in West Union on Wednesday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m. The association includes twenty three counties in southern Ohio. Blythe Janes, Clermont County Auditor, is secretary. Eligible members include auditors, commissioners, attorneys, engineers, common pleas and probate judges, clerks of courts, recorders and coroners.
Hill District 1.C.C.F. Lodge marks its 118th anniversary on Saturday April 24 1937 at Marathon Clermont County Ohio. Event begins 7:30 PM with a basket supper and an specially arranged program for all who can attend.
