Officials in Batavia host a sales tax hearing at the Heritage Building on Riverside Drive at 7 p.m. The proposal could generate about 600000 to 1000000 dollars annually for the county, with funds earmarked for a new jail as ordered by a federal judge and for other capital improvements.

Financing problems threaten mental health complex project

Commissioners heard that financing difficulties may stop the medical service complex as the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Board needs a decision to avoid losing a state grant. Henry noted that twelve agencies have applied for loans to build the complex and the county could borrow up to 7.09 million on unvoted projects. Planning began in 1975 with Steinkamp Nordhoff Architects submitting preliminary sketches in 1977.

Jordan named to Burg school board fills unexpired term

Mark Jordan of 195 S Second St Williams burg was appointed by the Williamsburg School Board on April 9 to fill the unexpired term of the late Paul J Abbott. Jordan, WLYK general manager and amateur radio operator, plans to run next November for the balance of the term through January 1, 1982. He and his wife have two children.
