A New Richmond lodge held its annual inspection with broad attendance from many lodges. The event featured the Master Mason's degree and a banquet with brief tasks, followed by spring housecleaning musings on government reform, tariff policy, saving, and labor versus capital amid political and economic commentary.
The Batavia Woman's club will meet with Mrs. Robinson as hostess on Saturday April 14. The program features music and a guest day in Germany themed discussions. Participants include Mrs. D. K. McDonald Mrs. C. F. Massey and Frederic Kramer.
Beech Forest Chapter D A R members Mrs V O Lytle Mrs Louise Anstaett Mrs Elizabth Banford Mrs E S Rush of Batavia and Mrs Fagley of Bethel joined a Georgetown luncheon last Thursday hosted by Taliaferro Chapter D A R in honor of State officers.
Joseph Kidd Jr and Lois Launderville of Cleveland married April 7 in Erie Pennsylvania with a Presbyterian ceremony. The bride is a commercial artist with the Cleveland Plain Dealer and the couple will reside in Cleveland.
Southern Ohio Coon Hunters Association held its regular monthly meeting in Loveland on a Thursday evening with over 300 in attendance. The secretary was authorized to release 20 coon 20 rabbits 10 pheasants and additional birds for hatching, after a report of similar releases last month.135 new members were admitted bringing total membership close to one thousand. Charles Coler and committee organized refreshments and entertainment.
The Clermont Players stage the three act comedy Look Out Lizzie at Newsonsville Baptist Church on Thursday April 19, 1934 Admission ten and twenty cents Curtain at 8 00 PM.
The Batavia Parent Teachers Association prepares a program on Education in the Orient with Mrs. Thomas speaking on Schools in the Far East. A musical number is planned. The meeting is in the high school auditorium Thursday evening at 8 o'clock, April 12.
The Batavia Masonic lodge schedules Master Mason degree work on Saturday night April 14 and Saturday night April 21 with inspection on Wednesday April 18. Four visiting Masons from Kentucky will participate. All visiting Masons are welcome.
Batavia Garden Club announces Miss Genevieve Caldwell landscape architect as speaker for April 16 at Mrs. Robert R. Caldwell’s home. She will discuss Garden Design and showcase garden tools from Union Fork and Hoe Co. of Columbus.
Three year old Bobby Davidson riding to breakfast with his mother fell into a cellar way beside Dr Colburn’s office. Janitor Raymond Roach and the boy’s mother rescued him. He escaped with fright and no broken bones. He is the son of R A Davidson, engineer on the Batavia bridge.
Clermont County receives 11000 for overdue relief bills and keeps relief operations amid continued uncertainty. Federal ERRA work resumes on several projects in Batavia Bethel and New Richmond with 57 workers and plans to hire about 68 more. Bricker offers ruling restricting county payment of costs to village mayors and marshalls in felony and misdemeanor cases where the state fails to indict convict or collect costs.
The Board of Health has issued nearly three hundred milk permits to date. The public is misinformed that all producers must immediately conform to regulations. A practical standard will be set, with fair handling for clean food producers and due scrutiny for those whose products are not fit for consumption, based on financial condition and willingness to protect perishable milk. Frank W. Weaver Post No. 237 of the American Legion plans a minstrel show at Batavia Town Hall on Saturday night April 21. The post serves Batavia Amelia Owenaville Mt Carmel and nearby areas and invites all residents to attend. Tickets sold in local towns at 26 cents for adults and 10 cents for children. John B. Rapp secretary of the Clermont County Fair Board lists the next fair dates as August 21 22 28 and 24 with plans for a large exhibition and an invitation to meet friends there.
Storekeepers in Clermont County are urged to file statements on the 1st and 15th of each month to ensure prompt payment of relief obligations. The appeal comes from Fred Croswell the county relief director who says timely reporting will speed disbursements.
Seven hundred Clermont County tobacco growers face delays in final approval of their government acreage reduction contracts due to missing 1933 marketing cards and warehouse weight slips. County Agent Baugh urges prompt submission as all contracts must be submitted to Washington together. delays cause penalties for timely participants and rental payments await contract approval.
The annual anniversary events run April 8 to 16 with the 58th observance. On April 11 the Tay lor M. B. church hosts the Through the Years pageant and Batavia Presbyterian and First Baptist nights follow on Thursday and Friday. Sunday morning Dr. Frank R. Arnold will preach and the anniversary sermon by Rev. C. T Nelson centers on The Faith of Our Fathers at 8 pm.
Brown county lists two female hopefuls for county offices with Mabel Yockum seeking auditor and Fannie Cahall pursuing the clerk of the courts nomination. In Clermont county, Mrs. Ollie Wood also seeks the clerk of the courts nomination while Clermont filings lag with only three filed so far.
Earl South and Philip Wood of Batavia landed a fine string of Channel catfish on a trot line weighing 20 pounds in uniform size and attracting other local fishermen.

Attorney General John W Brickner rendered an opinion approving an issue of notes of the Union Rural School District Clermont County Ohio for 4215 dollars. The notes were purchased by the Retirement Board of the State Teachers Retirement System.
Amanda Binkley Haskell Bauer born March 13 1875 near Williamsburg Ohio died March 29 1934 aged 59 years 16 days She married James Haskell February 22 1889 They had four children Harry Owensville George Dayton Mamie McKibben and Mamie Williamsburg one daughter Evelyn survived later by a second marriage to Albert Bauer December 19 1931 She joined Afton M E Church and is survived by six grandchildren and many friends and neighbors.
The family thanks friends and neighbors who assisted during their bereavement. Special thanks go to Rev. Roberts J Isaac Maham and those who provided music and flowers.
