Beech Forest DAR to Meet April 2 at 2 PM

Want Their Guns Seizure Case Involves Warden Stagg

Two Milford residents Wilson C. Storey and Walter Rauscher filed two repre vin suits in Common Pleas Court naming game warden Frank W. Stagg as defendant. They seek return of two guns confiscated during a December 13 arrest for shooting quail and demand $250 damages each.

Grand Jury Indicts in Burglary and Fraud Cases

The grand jury met Tuesday with 15 witnesses. Two bills were found and two cases ignored. Willis Colter indicted for burglary. Wilbur Sommer charged with issuing checks without funds. Carl Ely served as foreman.

Coyle and Guenther Injure in Route 76 Wreck

Amelia man Paul Coyle and Batavia woman Catherine Guenther were in a late Thursday crash on Route 76 near Summerside. The car hit a pole and wrecked. Coyle was knocked unconscious, Guenther bruised but sent home after care from Dr. Colburn. Sheriff Auxier assisted and Coyle was treated in Batavia. No charges were filed for reckless driving.

Milk Adjustment Plan Outlined by Agriculture Agency

County Agent Baugh describes a nation wide dairy adjustment program by the Agriculture Adjustment Administration to raise producer income and reduce dairy output to near recent low levels. The plan includes surplus milk relief for hungry city children and cow transfers to needy farms, with eradication measures for bovine diseases and a projected cost of 165 million dollars, potentially rising to 300 million. Benefit payments are set at about forty cents per pound of butterfat reduced below the 1932 33 quota, roughly $1 50 per 100 pounds of surplus milk.

County Agents Open Emergency Crop Loan Forms

Emergency crop loan forms have been received by County Agent Baugh in Batavia Illinois. Farmers may apply at once. The maximum loan per individual is 250 dollars and the minimum is 25 dollars. Loans from 25 to 150 dollars may be issued if a farmer has insufficient security for a loan elsewhere.

Opening Clermont county baseball schedule released

League officials outlined the opening schedule for twelve teams. The season starts April 22 with games including Bethel at Newtonville and Batavia at N R Tramps. New Richmond will play league games every Sunday and the elimination series begins July 8.

J. B. Cover was elected president of the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Williamsburg at a Tuesday morning reorganization. He succeeds the late I. G. Foster, who died suddenly on March 27. Cover is a former cashier of the bank.

Anna Louise Niedenheiser married Elmer A. Kramer at the bride’s home in Bucyrus with music by Ella Meek. Rev I D Green officiated. Sister Helen Roberts served as matron of honor and John Kramer was best man as fifty guests attended a post ceremony reception.

Government seeks 100 acres for wildlife reserve in Clermont County

Game Warden Frank W. Stage states the government aims to acquire 100 or more acres of cheap rough land in Clermont county with no object to conditions. The land will be used as a game reserve and paid at 1 to 15 dollars per acre. Land may be rough with hills hollows and underbrush. See Mr. Stagg for details.

Shoe Factory Returns to Georgetown From Williamsburg

The shoe factory that moved to Georgetown from Williamsburg is returning. Machinery is being installed and operation is expected to start soon. During its stay in Georgetown two bus loads of workmen have been traveling daily. The enterprise is welcomed back by the town.

Blinded by Burns Emma Ehlers Struck After House Fire

Mrs. Emma Glan Cy Ehlers 73 of 1628 E 6th street fled a burning home to the street and was struck by a car driven by Albert Brock at 644 Taylor street. She suffered fractures to hip arm and jaw and was described as in fair condition at night. Ehlers is a sister of Mrs Gomien of Batavia.

Farm Bureau backs amendments to Packers and Stock Yards Act

At a Farm Bureau Co operative Association meeting last Friday evening two hundred stock holders unanimously favored amendments to the 1921 act. The changes seek to place all public livestock marketing under the Agriculture Secretary, require access to packer books, and bring packer operations under federal regulation and supervision.
