Will of Bethel man leaves bulk to Socialist society

Joseph H. Sims of Bethel died January 17 1926 with a will dated June 2 1925 naming Joseph Shorts of Dayton as executor and Luella Sims his widow as trustee. A April 1 1926 suit in Common Pleas challenges capacity and contests distributions including a large share to the Socialist Society of the United States of America to fund educational books.

Good Woman Gone Mrs Julia Holmes Dies in Williamsburg

Mrs Julia Holmes a pioneer of the county died at home in Williamsburg Saturday afternoon in her 94th year. Widow of Lycurgus Holmes she cared for the sick and lived mostly in Clermont county. Survived by daughter Miss Billa Holmes and grandson Clyde Holmes. Funeral from Williamsburg M E church Monday afternoon with burial at Clover.

Baby Shower in Honor of Evelyn Jean Davis

On Thursday evening March 25 1926 Daughters of America gathered at Etta Burnetts home for a Baby Shower honoring Evelyn Jean Davis daughter of Mr and Mrs John Davis. The evening included contests cards and lunch with guests leaving late saying they enjoyed the event.

Swing Reappointed Postmaster After four-year Term

John W. Swing, former Clermont county recorder, has been reappointed postmaster of his hometown for another four years. Widely popular, he is noted for aiding the public and earning high esteem. Bethel praises having such an official who also served in the recorder's office.

The Hill District marks the 107th anniversary of Odd Fellowship with a program at Newtonsville M E Church on Saturday April 17 1926. United States Offers 30 Days Free Military Training

The government offers healthy youths aged 17 to 24 a month of free training with clothing, board, and travel paid. Bootlegger Arrested After Depot Basket Find

Deputy Dawson and Sheriff Croswell nabbed Harrison Rutherford of Newport Kentucky after discovering a basket containing two gallons of whiskey near the water tank by the N and W depot. Rutherford faced Judge White and was fined 200 dollars plus costs and ordered to the Dayton workhouse for several months.

Pike Reconstruction Moves From Batavia to Stonelick

Work began last week on rebuilding the Batavia to Stonelick pike by Pringle and Buerkle with a gasoline shovel. The project aims to connect county sections and provide a smooth, gravel, well-graded route along the East Fork, improving safety and views, with future repairs planned by county commissioners.

Bethel Dentists New Offices and Local Road Work

Homer M. Wymer, formerly of Bata via boy and recent Cincinnati College of Dentistry graduate, now practices in the First National Bank Building at Bethel. County surveyor and board of county commissioners laid lines Saturday for the Batavia Stonelick road, widening to 16 feet with a 40 foot right of way, removing narrows and obstructions. The gravel road will be kept smooth with frequent grading, as Clermont County’s commissioners emphasize road know how.

Roadside pole removal and road work progress reported

Grading has started on the Williams burg end and poles are being removed from the Bethel to Williamsburg road right of way. State projects will start Owensville to Williamsburg this week, Batavia to Owensville later, with material already along the routes. Stonelick pike work began last week and progress is being watched.
