Marathon Youth Reported Killed in Korean War
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rayles of Marathon learn from the War Department that their son Private Edward J. Rayles has died in Korea. He had been missing in action since July 16, 1950 after landing in Korea on July 3, 1950. He enlisted in 1949 while in high school. he is survived by his parents a brother Carl Jr and sister Rita.

Michigan Parole Violator Held On Morals Charge
Batavia Chief Ed Colonel and Sherman Rardin, 67, hold on parole violation for absconding supervision. Rardin was sentenced in Michigan in 1928 for indecent liberties with children, five to ten years, paroled in 1932 to New Richmond.

Weekend Accidents Leave One Seriously Hurt
A West Union man, Walton Francis, 41, suffered severe facial cuts and a left leg fracture in a Sunday crash that involved another car, a barn, a telephone pole, and a long slide off U S 52. Thomas Reid, 30, of Cincinnati, and his wife and children were uninjured in the other collision. Grace Fahn and C 8 Johnson escaped harm in a Bethel pair of crashes on Friday afternoon. Fahn’s car went through a guard rail into a creek and Johnson’s became stuck in mud.

Third Man Fined Jailed in Batavia Chimney Fraud
The third of four men charged in a Clermont County chimney cleaning fraud was jailed 30 days and fined 50 dollars by Batavia Mayor J F Paschal. Amos Bradley of Maysville Kentucky faced charges of obtaining money under false pretenses and fraud. Two other suspects Walter Fryman and James Manning of Abberdeen Ohio were fined 100 dollars and costs and jailed 30 days on March 5. John Fryman and Bradley jumped bond on January 27.

Gar land Auxier of Cherry Grove former Clermont County Sheriff and Batavia auto dealer along with Archie Meadows and Thelma Cox were bound over to the Adams County Grand Jury after a West Union hearing.
