County plans turn lanes and road upgrades this summer
County Engineer Ralph T. Palmer presented a 1986 road improvement program approving widening and turn lanes on Ohio 32 near Eastgate South Drive and Wyler Park access. Projects include Old Ohio 14 widening, Loveland Milford Road relocation, bridge work on Starling, Felicity Cedron, Martin, Dela Palma, Cook, Goshen, Roudebush, Fruit Ridge roads, and repaving 59.58 miles of Amelia Olive Branch area. Total spending about 3.75 million with nine bridges at about 1 million.

Congressman Bob McEwen announced an $849,200 Appalachian Regional Commission grant to build an access road to Park 50 TechnoCenter in Clermont County. The project, costing $1,061,500 with Park 50 Development Company contributing, will connect U.S. 50 to the park, create 423 jobs over two years, and expand employment beyond 1,500 as tenants grow.

CECOS case set for full slot on Ringland docket
An eight week Oct 20 to Dec 12 trial window was set for CECOS International Inc Browning-Ferris Industries Alan Orth and John Stirnkorb on 96 count criminal indictments stemming from 1984 incidents at the CECOS landfill. The charges include illegal disposal and pollution of waterways related to contaminated rainwater pumped into Pleasant Run Creek upstream from Williamsburg water intake. Indictments returned May 31, 1985, list illegal disposal of hazardous waste illegal failure to evaluate waste illegal disposal without prior analysis and related violations at the Aber Road site and involving Stirnkorb.
