The April grand jury will convene Thursday morning with a record docket from liquor charges to burglary and forgery. Prosecutor F A Roberts will lead. Judge Charles G White will instruct the panel. The panel lists numerous names and witnesses summoned for a three day session.
The Batavia Woman's club will meet with Mrs Allen Nichols next Saturday. Speaker Albert Meyer Cincciona ti will discuss the present European crisis.
On Tuesday evening March 26 Mr and Mrs W B Miller hosted a dinner to honor their 40th wedding anniversary. Mrs Miller is daughter of the late Rev W P Jackson whom they married at Amelia M E church. Guests from Batavia and nearby towns included Dr and Mrs Clayton Day Mr and Mrs W F Hall Mr and Mrs O C Jackson Miss Elizabeth Miller and several other friends.
Lloyd Black of Monroe township was arrested by Clermont County Rangers for breaking into Elmer Brunk's blacksmith shop and removing an auto tire. He waived examination before Squire L. Larkin and was bound over to the grand jury meeting Thursday. he remains in jail.
Ohio residents in Tate, Jackson and surrounding rural districts may request absent voter ballots by contacting the Batavia Board of Elections office or receive ballots by mail for the April 28 election. Four election officials per precinct will run voting. disabled ballots issued 15 days before election day.
Mil ford's oldest commercial institution marks its 7th anniversary as W Ebret Adams joins his father Charles Adams in running Adams Bakery. Founded April 1 1864 by Chas Adams Sr the business now enters the third generation with plans for expansion.
Farmers will save about 400000 dollars this year on farm machinery after House Bill 121 classified tillers of the soil as manufacturers and exempted farm equipment from the retail sales tax. Governor signed the bill. Rep John Hayden helped push passage. farmers gain broader exemptions including seeds lime fertilizer and agrochemicals.
Our state music festival invites high school bands to compete. Batavia and Williamsburg unite their bands to form a stronger unit for Class 0 competition. A concert at Batavia town hall on April 12 features the Oxford program piece A Night in Tripoli by J. J. Richards.

A long standing Davis Hill slip, costing the county thousands, has shifted again spilling dirt and threatening the road. The mass is five feet deep and about 2,000 feet long, not yet touching the roadway. State action is urged to blast hardpan or build a drainage culvert to divert water.
The first 1935 quarterly reduction in auto registration fees takes effect April 1, announced by Motor Registrar Frank West. Passenger car fees drop 25 percent across classes from $7 to $5.25 for 25 hp or less up to $25 to $18.75 for over 36 hp. Truck fees follow the same proportional cut.
Rural Ohio could receive part of the 4.8 million dollar Congress appropriations for work relief. Ohio Farm Bureau officials say 100 million is set aside for rural electrification, and if surveys prove demand for extending electric power, an application will be made to secure funds.

Marguerite Platt of Williamsburg was elected to Phi Beta Kappa among 21 University of Cincinnati seniors. She is the daughter of Mrs. Jessie H. Platt and a Stivers High School graduate. Platt majors in History and will graduate at the June 7 commencement.
The Tobasco P. T. A. will hold its April meeting Friday at 2 30 p m at the school with an active program by the program committee and election of officers for the coming year. A Community program with Williamsville and Tabasco Schools is planned, featuring an exhibition of school work.
