Census Takers Begin in Clermont County April 2
The army of census takers starts April 2 at 8 a m with 25 takers in Clermont County 14 townships and 11 corporations. They will ask a detailed set of questions on home ownership farm status schooling language birth and employment to classify economic status and buying power. Miami and Batavia townships each have two census takers.

Red Cross Announces Veterans Benefit Award for Local Veteran
The Red Cross of Clermont county reports a dis ability claim from World War veteran Howard Walker of Amelia has been awarded by the Veterans Bureau. Walker moved from Massachusetts three years ago. his claim, filed by Mrs Musuey of the Batavia Red Cross, had been denied several times before new evidence persuaded officials last week. This marks the second claim in the year that looked hopeless at filing.

Three Men Injured In A & P Highway Crash
Frank Swein Earl Thompson and Harry Behymer all of Bethel were driven into a ditch when an unknown man in a stolen car sideswiped them on the A and P highway below New Richmond. Swein and Thompson sustained serious injuries with knee damage and a 16 stitch facial wound. Behymer had a head cut. The suspect fled. Dr Meade of New Richmond treated them and Kennedy's ambulance transported them home. A Clermont County Fish and Game Sportsmen meeting is set for Friday April 4 at 7 30 PM at Batavia Town Hall to form a county organization. J W Thompson and J W Stuber will attend and speak. a film on game rearing will be shown. All sportsmen and farmers invited. No charge.

Clermont County Teachers Meet at Batavia April 12
The Cler mont County Teachers Association will hold a spring meeting in Batavia High School auditorium on April 12 at 9 80 a m for a half day. Dean B J Ashbaugh of Miami University will give the chief address and votes on school closing for vacation and other business will follow. The first teachers examination for the year will be at Batavia High on April 5 at 9 a m for elementary high school and special teachers with certificates dated September 1 1980.

Last Chance for World War I Veteran Claims in Clermont
The American Legion of Clermont County urges ex service men to file compensation claims by April 5 the last day for filing. Red Cross secretary Mrs Massey will devote Thursday and Friday to preparing these claims in her office. The deadline is strict and claims received after April 5 cannot be accepted. Rev Gabriel visited Mr and Mrs Heckathorn on Sunday. About 40 Christian Church members toured Cincinnati sites Sunday.

Big Batavia social raises funds for summer camp
A box supper and social at the Batavia Armory drew a large county crowd and raised proceeds to help fund the annual summer training camp run by Clermont County Council of Religious Education. The event featured old fashioned games with a modern twist and will spur similar socials in Loveland, Miamiville, Bethel and other areas. Proceeds support the July 21 to August 1 session at Roudebush's camp near Batavia.

Dynamite fishing near Wilhiamsville ends in court action
Six young men from near Wilhiamsville used dynamite at Clover Creek to stun fish and haul out over 100 pounds. Deputy Warden F. W Stagg halted them as they returned, and all pleaded guilty before Judge Woodmansee and Squire Larkin. Fines reached 100 dollars each plus costs. two paid, four jailed. Fish then turned over to the County Home and sheriff. Names include Norman Banks 16 and Will Dahlheimer 20, among others.

Clermont County Commisioners Fund Fire Engine Purchase
The Clermont County commissioners agreed to contribute 500 toward a Community Fire Engine for Batavia and nearby areas. The payment will be in two installments of 250 each in 1931 and 1932 to protect county buildings where all records are stored. The fire apparatus will make county records 100 percent safer. The move safeguards deeds and mortgages for every holder in the county.

Batavia Forms Two Fire Organizations at Armory Meeting
At Batavia Armory on Friday night, the Batavia Community Fire Company was formed with George Gregg as president and A C Nash as treasurer. A Volunteer Fire Fighting Company was also organized with officers from the Frank W Weaver Post American Legion including Harold Nichols and W O Walls. Fire chiefs named were H F Buerkle and Irwin Kain with captains Chas Pringle Homer Wilson and Ed Dumford. numerous citizens joined as volunteers. Also noted was the death of Will Parrish of Norwood after an appendectomy, with burial at Batavia and survivors including a widow and one son.
