Residents fear increased runoff and flooding as a public hearing set for 10 am November 29 considers a 54 700 cubic yard excavation and rerouting inside Elyria.
A speeding passenger train derailed near Malmesbury ten miles north of it, killing 48 and injuring 144 as seven coaches left the bend. UPI reports US jet fighters destroyed or damaged seven MIG jets at a major airbase near Hanoi and knocked out three more on the ground in raids on North Vietnamese airfields. Hanoi radio claimed one F111 was shot down northwest of Hanoi.
In New Market England Roy Bridge finished second and Vedyvas third as the Irish Sweepstakes Cambridgeshire concluded. Officials announced after viewing photos that Negus was the victor, with spectators and viewers on television awaiting the final result.
An Arab timed bomb outside a Jerusalem supermarket near the American consulate wounded three people including the wife of a Venezuelan diplomat, an American student, and an Israeli worker. The attack comes as reports noted reduced ground fighting in Vietnam and several US aircraft incidents in North and South Vietnam.
Susan Marie Simmons and Sharon Ann Simmons alert Mayor Reichlin to a flooded ditch near St. Marys School at end of E. 13th Street. They describe a growing hole after a recent storm that blocks crossing, ask for drainage cleaning and hole filling, noting they are children of Richard and Mrs. Simmons at 228 E 13th Street.
