Pledge in Ridgeville seeks city job description list
North Ridgeville administration and City Council press to create a municipal job description list to secure federal revenue sharing funds. Civil Service Commission says task is not its jurisdiction, despite a 10 year push. A plan to have department heads draft capsule descriptions was rejected as unworkable, with a progress report slated for Oct. 17.

Move stumbles as Lorain county law library needs more space
Elyria Lorain County officials face a snag in relocating the county law library from the courthouse to the basement of the administration building. Law Library Association members demand 1,000 additional square feet, saying the current 3,000-square-foot plan is insufficient and would hinder spending over 100,000 on lights and shelves. The issue will be paused for weeks while a space solution is sought, with options including reallocating space from a data processing area. Funding currently comes from state highway patrol fines. A bill to open law libraries to the public is under consideration by the Ohio General Assembly. The commission also set an Oct 4 public hearing on Community Development Block Grant projects, including a 100,000 sewer plan for Sheffield Township, and approved a sewer design for Lorain County Airport plus minor retaining-wall repairs.
