Judge upholds 90 day sentence for bookmaker Chlepciak
Lorain County Common Pleas Court Judge Adrian Bedleski rejected a defense bid to modify or eliminate the 90 day jail term for bookmaker John J. Chlepciak. The 63 year old bail bondsman was previously sentenced and must serve jail time. His attorney argued fines were sufficient as charges were upgraded from misdemeanors to felonies. Chlepciak also faces a $5,000 fine after pleading no contest to four felony gambling charges and remains free on bond pending appeal to the Sixth District Court of Appeals.
