Honda eyes Ohio plant site in Union County

Gov. Rhodes said Ohio has been in serious negotiations with Honda for six months and is hopeful Honda will locate in Ohio. Honda considers Union County near the Transportation Research Center the strongest U S site for its first U S auto facility, with potential state funding up to 1.5 million to attract the plant and possible expansion for auto production.

RTA Bus Collision Kills Woman in Lakewood

An RTA bus collided with two cars on Clifton Boulevard in Lakewood killing Myrtle Blackmun, 74, of Edgewater Drive and injuring eight others. The crash occurred around 6:40 p.m. and tied to a prior month fatal bus collision on Clifton Boulevard.

Lorain man surrenders on armed bank robbery charge

James Lee Turner, 29, of 3165 Fulton Road Lorain surrendered today to FBI agents in Elyria on an armed robbery charge tied to the September 2 holdup of a Northern Savings and Loan branch on Midway Mall Boulevard. Turner, with a plastic bag over his head in the incident, turned himself in with his brother present as his family cooperated. none of the roughly 80 million in money recovered.

Amherst and Oberlin vote on school levies in brisk and light turnout

In Amherst turnout was brisk while Oberlin saw a light vote as residents tackled a 4.09 mill emergency levy to keep schools open and a 6 mill general levy. The Amherst levy would raise 350000 and the Oberlin levy 252000 with 126000 borrowable this year. The situation follows a teachers strike now in its fifth day and a prior levy defeat in June.
