Gov. Rhodes said Ohio has been in serious negotiations with Honda for six months and is hopeful Honda will locate in Ohio. Honda considers Union County near the Transportation Research Center the strongest U S site for its first U S auto facility, with potential state funding up to 1.5 million to attract the plant and possible expansion for auto production.

James Lee Turner, 29, of 3165 Fulton Road Lorain surrendered today to FBI agents in Elyria on an armed robbery charge tied to the September 2 holdup of a Northern Savings and Loan branch on Midway Mall Boulevard. Amherst and Oberlin vote on school levies in brisk and light turnout
In Amherst turnout was brisk while Oberlin saw a light vote as residents tackled a 4.09 mill emergency levy to keep schools open and a 6 mill general levy. The Amherst levy would raise 350000 and the Oberlin levy 252000 with 126000 borrowable this year. The situation follows a teachers strike now in its fifth day and a prior levy defeat in June.
