A special six member Senate committee unanimously recommended censure of Senator Joseph R. McCarthy for contempt of the Senate and for abusing an Army general. The Senate is recalled to session on November 8 to consider the committee's findings.

School bus turnout and patrols at opening amid rally

The first bus carried 10 pupils, the next three, with typical bus capacity about 49. Two state troopers and ten Milford policemen patrolled the area as about 60 residents gathered for school opening. A Sunday rally of 3,000 led by the Imperial League? was led by Bryant Bowles.

Parents, Girl Killed In Crash

Three members of a Delta Ohio family died in a two car crash at the Angola Road and Fulton Lucas county roads intersection. Jacob Garman 31 his wife and their young daughter were killed on scene. A second child believed twin to the dead girl was injured. The collision involved a car driven by 72 year old William Casper of Swanton. Garman died at Toledo Hospital the mother and daughter died at the scene and were taken to Swanton Funeral Home. Casper suffered minor injuries.

Japanese storm toll near three thousand and 208 boats sunk

A typhoon in the Tsugaru Strait of northern Japan sank 208 vessels and killed nearly 3,000 people, including 57 Americans. The Toya Maru ferry capsized in 118 mph winds, with 1,042 passengers and 111 crew aboard, as 1,000 plus perished in the fire and sinking. Americans aboard included Pfc. Slaying Victim's Father Turned Over To Florida

Baltimore attorney and former labor leader James T. Roberts, jailed on charges tied to the kidnapping and murder of his seven year old daughter Judith Vann in Florida, was extradited after a Dade County court proceeding.
