Allied swallows Bendix in three-way aerospace deal

Allied Corp agreed to acquire Bendix for 1.9 billion and take a significant stake in Marietta Aerospace while Marietta remains largely independent, ending a month-long takeover battle that involved United Technologies and multiple lawsuits across four states. Bendix Chief William Agee gains presidency of the enlarged company as Bendix stockholders receive 85 dollars per share.

Plane crash destroys apartments in Midland

Five people were injured as a Beech Baron ferrying two prisoners to Louisiana clipped a Midland apartment building, exploded, and set off a blast. Witnesses reported burning aviation fuel from the twin-engine plane, which had just left Midland Air Park and attempted to return there before the crash into the Warwick Apartments.
