Tragedy strikes Pawtucket family from Azores voyage
Carlos daSilva 40 was beaten to death February 18 at Cha Verde Club. His wife Irene, 38, died after a speeding car jumped a curb Thursday near Memorial Hospital while she walked to work. The couple left seven children and relied on welfare after moving to the Industrial city two years ago.

Last Man Club honors 60th reunion with silent toast
In Topeka, Kansas, the Last Man Club of Company A, 110th Engineers, 35th division, American Expeditionary Forces, held its 60th and final reunion. The minutes from 1939 required the last survivor to toast with champagne. Joe Rizzi, 83, attended with his wife after decades of participation. the gathering ended with Auld Lang Syne.
