LIFE editors announce the revived publication debuts today as a monthly, after originally launching in 1936 and ending in 1972. The 140 page October issue proclaims Life is back with its big-page format, a higher price of 1.50, and a focus on powerful imagery to astonish, educate, delight and move readers.
A 133 aboard jetliner crashes into Northpark homes amid approach to Lindbergh Field. No survivors reported as wreckage lights up the neighborhood five miles east of the airport. FAA said crew alerted ground control and a potential midair collision with a light aircraft is possible. NTSB sent investigators to the scene.

A 25 year old Avon Lake man, Thomas Buckhold, was electrocuted early today on Depot Street when a guide wire touched an electrical line as two friends swayed on it. Buckhold, standing on the ground, received the charge and died en route to Elyria Memorial Hospital. His friends were uninjured. He was a Navy veteran and an employee of Clark Joy Co. in Bay Village. He leaves parents, a sister, and a sister in law. Visitation is set at Burmeister Avon Lake Funeral Home with services to follow Thursday. Burial at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
Allan Bakke plans to enter UC Davis medical school today despite publicity plans by Third World groups to protest. The 38 year old engineer, whose Supreme Court case upheld use of ethnic background in admissions, said he will attend and keep his personal life private.
Pfandler Co employees resumed work today ending a strike that began July 29. UAW Local 1161 voted overwhelmingly to accept a new three year contract. provisions beyond term not disclosed. About 200 of 300 workers were in the bargaining unit.
