Uganda says heavy fighting rages near Mutukula as Tanzanian troops and guerrillas clash with Ugandan forces. Captured former Ugandan minister Hoshua Wakholi is reported wounded, amid casualties on both sides and a potential downing of Lt. Col. David Oyite Ojok. Libyan air support arrives in Uganda with 400 soldiers to aid Idi Amin.
Communist gunners fired 33 heavy rockets into the Da Nang air base. Three American sailors were wounded. two civilians killed and seven injured. An O2 plane was damaged and five buildings in the U.S. portion suffered light damage. Two trucks were destroyed. Earlier, U S jets attacked positions outside Winhard and bombed the boat yard. 280 tactical strikes were reported over North Vietnam.

Deputy County Auditor Trepoy says the misdirected mail came from an outdated stack, complicating efforts to explain the error. Eddie Pollnitz 23 of 302 Middle Ave. plunged from a third floor maternity room window at Elyria Memorial Hospital to an asphalt lot, breaking pelvis, leg, wrist and elbow before emergency surgery. He said the act was for self harm not escape and remains under guard in fair condition.

Lorain resident Stephen Rulli was robbed of 1000 dollars after hiring two gypsies for roof repairs. He recovered 800 dollars from the self described king of the Eastern gypsies, Miller claimed. Miller traveled to Lorain and promised to raise the remaining funds as cousins were out of state. Authorities liaised with Toledo on the case.
