Visitors honor Trooper Kenneth Velez at LCCC viewing
Large turnout from state and country gathered at Lorain County Community College to pay respects to fallen Ohio Highway Patrol Trooper Kenneth Velez. Velez, 48, died on Interstate 90 when struck by a car driven by Joshua Gaspar, 37, of Columbia Station. Gaspar faces aggravated vehicular homicide charges with bond set at $500,000 in Cleveland Municipal Court.

Woman overdoses with grandson in vehicle at gas station
Elyria police say a 56 year old woman Debra Hyde of Spruce Street was arrested on child endangerment after an suspected overdose at the Certified gas station on Lowell Street. An 11 month old boy was in the back seat and was removed by responders as officers and firefighters responded.

Ohio EPA seeks public comment on NEXUS gas line
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency opened a public comment period on the NEXUS gas transmission project planned by Spectra Energy. The 255 mile route would cross 11 Ohio counties to Michigan and Canada, with a draft environmental impact study by FERC favoring the route.
