Dog woes and wiser bonds with man’s best friend

Lorain city dog warden Joe Yockey and county colleagues note most owners treat pets well while dog incidents persist. Recurring cases include a driver injured by a dog, a dog blamed for a girl’s death, a village petition to ban a dog after a bite, and a deer killed by dogs. Causes often involve human provocation, with guidance from the Pet Food Institute and a Congressional Resolution praising canine devotion.
