Chronicle Telegram hits milestone with 18 page issue and own engraver
Elyria Chronicle Telegram published its first 18 page issue on Friday September 21 1951 in a new building at 31 East Ave and Third St. The 18 page paper prints on a 48 page Goss-Duplex press and marks the first time images are produced entirely in house using Fairchild engraver service advancing photography and engraving speed for the paper and community.

Lt. Dale Ries, husband of former Ann Wilbur from Avon Belden Road Ridgeville, is reported missing in action over Korea while serving in the Strategic Air Command. Mrs Ries, a Ridgeville High School graduate, now lives with her husband's parents in Santa Rosa California and planned to begin substitute teaching this week. Her parents Mr and Mrs Verne Wilbur live at Box 148 Perrysburg.

New York Central Plans Abbe Road Freight Yard Expansion
New York Central to expand its Abbe Road area freight yard at a cost over 300000 dollars with work starting this fall. The project covers about two miles between Aube and Race roads, just south of current tracks, increasing capacity from 300 702 cars daily to 800 cars daily. Plans call for a 40 car switch load extended yard facilities new yard office 94 by 40 feet with basement and two floors to speed ore and general freight movements.

Escapees Caught After Wild Chase
Three escapees from Grafton Prison Farm were captured in Cleveland after a high speed pursuit as police fired rifles and shotguns. Identified as Wesley Fredericey age 20 of Cleveland Roy Sims Jr age 23 and Roscoe Fisher age 23 from Dayton, they had stolen a car and fled before a police bullet damaged the vehicle and led to their capture. The suspects said they planned to go to Pennsylvania for work then surrender to Ohio authorities after a couple of years.

Captured Bank Robber Says He Can Relax Now

Catholic High Gridder Injured In Game Crash

Fire Breaks Out After Wreckage Touched Off Blaze

Annual Fishing Festival Opens With First Fish Caught
Dickie Holzhauer of 243 George Street caught the festival's first fish, a two pound three ounce ratfish, at 9 10 a.m. at Ely Park Pool as Mayor Henry W. Ault opened the event for children 13 and under. Tommy Sudro and George Knipper followed with the second and third fish. Firemen Hurt in Gasoline Blast in Cleveland

Plane Crash Near Medina Kills 3
A one engine light plane crashed and burned in a field near Medina killing three people. Pilot James Owens of Columbiana Ohio, his sister in law Eloise Owens and her daughter Gaile, both from Dearborn Michigan, died in the fire.
