Blindness spurs man to map urban guide systems
In 1987 Tanemori learned he has retinitis pigmentosa, an inherited blindness likely linked to an atomic blast exposure. He proposed a tape guided city tour for the blind and, guided by Rep. Bill Baker and Moore of a research lab, pursues a $3 to $5 million, 3–5 year program to develop practical aids and standards. Tanemori eyes a new beginning as Moore seeks funding and collaboration.

Sisters in Bucks County Die in Murder-Death by Own Action
Ardys Van Horne 88 and Kathryn Lachner 82 were found shot to death Sunday in their Pine Run Retirement Community apartment in Doylestown Pennsylvania. A note signed by both women cited unending health problems and euthanasia denied in America, describing their choice as the only way out. The coroner said Van Horne killed Lachner with a 38 caliber pistol then shot herself, dying from internal bleeding. The bodies were found by a security guard after they did not attend lunch. Both women had lived together for decades and were well liked in the community, noted as artists and active residents.
