North Ridgeville Council unanimously approved a tax abatement and income tax sharing agreement for Invacare. The deal relocates Invacare headquar ters to Elyria with manufacturing to North Ridgeville, after weeks of negotiations and a special meeting to secure immediate effect.
A motorcyclist crashed through barricades at Middle Avenue and Third Street, struck a curb, and plowed into Rob’s Pizza stand near the county administration building. He was unhelmeted and critically injured. witnesses described him incoherent before LifeCare Ambulance took him to Elyria Memorial Hospital. Ibrahim Shareef and Paul were not identified further.
At Elyria the annual Apple Festival drew families despite chilly weather with 62 to 45 degree temperatures. Festgoers enjoyed hot beverages and planned ice skating on the Ely Square fountain and a snowman contest. Festival President Lyle Crosby praised the crowd while noting bees stayed away and rain held off. Weather forecasts called for 65 to 70 degrees later, as residents discussed apple themed balloons advocating anti drug messages.
An Esquire magazine poll of 1001 men shows Betty Rubble preferred over Wilma Flintstone by 58 to 30 percent. The Beta Research Corp. study also finds Jane Pauley favored over Mariah Carey 52 to 31 percent and Prince Charles over Prince (Minneapolis) 74 to 26 percent with a 3.2 point margin.
