Schultz: Asbestos no danger in Elyria schools

Elyria officials released results of an independent asbestos inspection confirming no health hazards in 27 public school buildings. Damaged insulation was removed from three buildings as a precaution while air monitoring showed all areas within acceptable standards.

Father wins step to lower Station Road speed limit

Mark Lorello of North Station Road led a bid to reduce Station Road from 55 to 45 mph after his 7 year old son John was hit by a car. He and local officials met with engineers and trustees and state representatives to plan signs and a new speed study. Officials said new signs would appear soon and a second study was requested after the 1989 recommendation to drop to 50 mph. Lorello argues 35 mph is safer and urged continued action.
