French attache fatally shot outside Beirut embassy

Col. Christian Goutierre, the French military attache, was killed in east Beirut as he stepped from his car near the French Embassy. A gunman with a silencer attacked him, while a second assailant followed, and a group calling itself Revenge and Justice Front claimed responsibility. Police reported the target parked outside the security zone before the attack. Goutierre, a 1954 Army entrant and colonel since 1980, was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Elyria couple spared insurance loss over burned neighbor

Marie and Wayne Hallauer of 232 Jackson St. keep their home owners policy after Allstate extended coverage. Judge Dismisses Million Dollar Suit Against Minister

Lorain County Common Pleas Court Judge Adrian Bedeski dismissed a 1 million lawsuit by Richard Strock of Lorain against Rev. James Presnell and Shepherd of the Ridge Lutheran Church in North Ridgeville. The judge ruled clergy conduct is protected by First Amendment rights, complicating malpractice claims. The suit alleged Presnell had sexual relations with Strock's wife during counseling in Oct 1985, contributing to their later divorce and a custody outcome.
