Peace framework hailed as victory for mankind in Middle East
The Camp David accords outline a framework for peace between Israel and Egypt, a five year West Bank and Gaza transitional status, and steps toward broader talks with Lebanon Syria and Jordan. Israel would withdraw from Sinai within two to three years after treaty signing, with limited forces remaining at key sites. Jubilation followed as Carter, Begin, and Sadat praised the achievement amid cautious optimism for future progress.
